Apple Bumper $175 Million Cost
Apple Bumper $175 Million Cost – When it was first reported that there were issues with iPhone 4 reception, it was first claimed that the problem only affected certain users. However, Apple now faces a $175 million bill in order to give all iPhone 4 users a bumper to solve the reception problems. These bumpers are going to be offered for free, hence the huge one hundred and seventy five million dollar pool of cash having to be set aside for them. Although this may seem like a huge cost, it works out a lot cheaper than if Apple were to recall the iPhone 4, as this cost would be astronomical.
Many iPhone users have expressed concern over whether or not they are going to be receiving the bumper made by Apple, or a cheaper third party model. Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, reportedly stated that it would be impossible to make enough bumpers, so they are going to source them from other places and give customers a choice. The free bumper deal is only going to be made available until September 30th so it seems to suggest that a more permanent solution will be made available for the models after this date. Consumer reports show that people are not happy with the iPhone 4 as it stands, and many people are not thrilled at the idea of a temporary fix. They want a permanent fix, which is understandable considering the amount of money that some people have paid to get their iPhone 4.
