Apple iPad 2011: New Processor & 7′ Display
Apple iPad 2011: New Processor & 7′ Display – With the iPad selling out of many stores, the company has reported that they will be boosting its capabilities in 2011. The newest model will have the same sized display, but will be powered by a brand new ARM processor that is based on the Cortex-A9 and will have 512 MB of RAM, making it much more powerful than the first version that was released. They also said that they will be releasing a second model that will have a smaller, 7 inch display with a 1024 x 768 resolution.
It will be interesting to see if the pricing on the second, smaller version is significantly less. The iPad has been a renowned success, and it was not hampered by a lot of the bad press that the iPhone 4 has received since its release. It is not clear why Apple would want to split their product line into two different types with the success that they have had with the first version, but they are probably trying to find a way to offer the iPad at a reduced price.
Other reports have stated that Apple is working on a CDMA version of the iPhone that will be able to use the Verizon network in the United States. That deal will likely not be formally announced until 2011, when the technology will allow Apple to expand their iPhone to other networks. As for now, the iPhone will remain only available on AT&T until further notice.
