Baggage Ban On Batteries

Starting January 1st 2008,it will be forbidden to carry batteries in checked luggage on airplanes.The ban affects non-rechargeable lithium batteries, like Energizer Holdings Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co.’s Duracell brand.Nonetheless passengers will still be allow to bring batteries if they are installed in electronic devices, such as cameras, cellphones and laptop computers in their carry on baggage. The limit is two batteries per passenger.

FBI “Next Generation Identification” World Largest Biometrics Database

The FBI is spending $1 billion on a project called the Next Generation Identification which would become the world’s largest computer database of biometrics to give the government more ways to identify people at home and abroad.The Washington Post reports that the agency has already started compiling digital images of faces, fingerprints and palm patterns in its systems.The paper added:

Walmart.com Extends Cyber Monday Into ‘Cyber Week’

Walmart.com is offering holiday deals online every day this week .
The site will propose special prices on 150 items,including an Xbox 360 bundle, which includes Microsoft’s Xbox 360 premium video game console, an extra controller, three games and messenger bag for less than $400.Walmart.com is not the only one trying to attract shoppers online this week to spend more of their holiday dollars,Shop.org/,Shopzilla,eHoliday are also in the race.

Apple Inc. is trying to revamp some of its retail stores by changing the layout, adding services and increasing its staffing.Last week the company launched a brand new service called “concierge”,in hope of attracting more visitors and increase the already record-breaking sales.Kurt Barnard, president of the Barnard Retail Consulting Group explains:

Black Friday Hits The Internet

The holiday shopping season has officially been launched Thanksgiving day even before the butterball turkey was carved. Many retailers including Wal-Mart Stores Inc, Best Buy Co Inc and Circuit City Stores Inc are already offering special deals online today.
No need to wait for Black Friday because Wal-Mart is advertising on its Web site a Magnavox 47-inch flat-screen television for $1,298, while Circuit City offered a Sony Blu-ray disc player for $399.99.
