There seems to be an app out for everyone lately. Now, even the Catholic Church has one. For $1.99, you can download “Confession: A Roman Catholic App” to your iPhone, iPad, or iTouch.

Essentially, the app allows the user a personal examination of their own conscience, one that goes further than the normal church confession.

The app assists in the act of confession. It was not designed to replace it, but rather complement it by providing a list of suggested acts of contrition for those who have sinned.

It further has “the ability to add sins not listed in standard examination of conscience. Interestingly, the church actually approved the app, which was developed by Patrick Leineh, the developer of the app.

Leineh, who is also the co-founder of Little iApps, stated, “Our desire is to invite Catholics to engage in their faith through digital technology.” Leineh also revealed that the app was created with the help of two Catholic priests.

Thomas Peters of catholicvote.org described the app as “very cool” and “very useful.” Bishop Kevin C. Rhodes of the Diocese of Fort Wayne even blessed the app, which provides a step-by-step guide to confessing one’s sins.
