Egyptian Dad Names Daughter Facebook
In a testament of the affect of the digital age, a man in Egypt has named his first born daughter “Facebook” after the popular social media website was used by dissidents to overthrow the Egyptian government and oust their president, Hosni Mubarak.*Sponsored Links*
The Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram wrote, “The girl’s family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook,” it stated , “Facebook received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name.”
Facebook continues to grow in popularity as the revolution there has sent shock waves to countries around the world. Egypt has a growing 5 million plus users of Facebook. Even the military interim government uses Facebook to help with the transition.
