IMF Cyber Attack Was Targeted
More information has come forward regarding the massive cyber attack against the International Monetary Fund.
Experts state that the real reason for the attack was to steal sensitive insider information. The attack follows other woes laid upon the IMF after its president, Dominique Strauss-Kahn had been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a maid in a New York hotel.
The attack on the IMF’s computers was clearly targeted on getting the information that they cyber criminals felt they could exploit for their own nefarious means.
It seems targeted on IMF strategies instead of personal information. Another bit of information says that the attack had gone on for months and wasn’t some simple one night cyber attack stand.
Other experts state that the attack was meant to gather sensitive information or to compromise the status of the organization that oversees the economy of the planet Earth.
This year has seen the biggest hacking attempts in history and growing concern about attacks the public isn’t aware of and future attacks that could cripple the infrastructure of the world as we know it.
Governments are stepping up their policing and several key arrests have been made which should lead to the apprehension of other hackers.
In response, the US is now considering hacking attempts on government facilities to be met with armed force.
Should other countries take up the mantle it would be out and out combat warfare against hackers and the results could be devastating to the hackers themselves.
It might not be too far fetched if governments start handing out such penalties as death to let hackers know their exploits are no longer to be tolerated as lives of billions could be in the balance.*Sponsored Links*
