Mark Zuckerberg $100 Million Donation To Cory Booker & Newark
Mark Zuckerberg $100 Million Donation To Cory Booker & Newark – Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg almost considered making his $100 million donation to Newark schools anonymously due to a new film being released about the creation and rise of the social networking site. Zuckerberg felt that the donation would be misconstrued as an attempt to take the heat off him following the dramatized revelations in the upcoming release ‘The Social Network’.
‘The Social Network’ claims that Zuckerberg stole the idea of facebook off his friends, and he was a social climber who used people to further his popularity and fame.
The Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker, spoke to Zuckerberg and his team, attempting to persuade them to go public, and that this was the right move. Zuckerberg is not only giving $100 million to Newark schools, but he is also donating $50 million to help disadvantaged and disaffected youths.
“An anonymous grant would arise a lot more questions than anything,” Booker said. “We literally had to go through long hauls to convince his people not to do this anonymously.”
A separate non-profit organization, the Newark Education and Youth Development Fund, is to be set up by Mayor Booker to attempt to match the $100 million donated by Zuckerberg.*Sponsored Links*
