Hacker Group Targets BofA With e-mails Monday Release »

The controversial group known as Anonymous that is renown for it’s computer hacking has stated it plans to release emails they obtained from Bank of America.

In a show of solidarity to the whistleblowing website WikiLeaks, Anonymous said they would release these reportedly incriminating emails on Monday which they state contain documents that expose “corruption and fraud” at Bank of America which is the largest US bank by assets.

Bank of America has not commented on the threats and it’s a good bet that when the documents do come to the light of day that BOA will be on it’s defenses.

Women Active On Facebook Need Attention: Study »

There’s an old saying about vanity and women but this story takes the cake as it states that a recent study says that women who post lots of pictures of themselves on Facebook are conveying strong personal characteristics and are more likely to fortify their self-worth on superficial appearance using social networking as a means to compete for attention.

Michael A. Stefanone an assistant professor of communications at the University of Buffalo was the lead author of the study. He and his team studied 311 men and women average in age of 23.

Judging the amount of time these subjects spent online managing their profiles and other such activities like the number of photos they shared, online network sizes, promiscuity all gathered from a questionnaire.

The study showed the women who were more attentive to their looks had the largest social networks and posted more photos than others. This has the researchers figuring that when posting lots of photos in the company of others “may serve to communicate the importance of particular relationships because these bonds may provide security regarding ones appearance and self worth.”

Nuclear Meltdown After Japan Earthquake 2011? »

The problems in Japan keep escalating regarding the ongoing nuclear power plant events as a sixth reactor loses cooling functions.

The Tokyo Electric Power Co. said that one more of their reactors of their Fukushima nuclear power plants had lost its cooling functions bringing to six the number of reactors in trouble and causing great concern globally about that country’s ability to stave off a nuclear core meltdown catastrophe.

Earlier on Saturday an explosion blasted away the roof and walls of the No. 1 reactor’s container vessel.

Supermoon Caused Tsunami? »

Look up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Super Moon!

That’s the comical look at the recent spate of quakes and disasters summed up by the Washington Post writer Alexandria Petri. Some may take it too seriously as a mild yet growing concern over the upcoming real phenomenon called a Super Moon that will occur on March 19 of this year.

For those unfamiliar, a Super Moon is a rare occasion that occurs when the Moon is closest to earth in about 18-19 years called “perigee”.

Amazon Internet Sales Tax Law In Illinois »

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed new legislation that requires Internet retailers to collect Illinois’ 6.25% sales tax if they have affiliate sellers in Illinois.

The House Bill 3659 is called the Mainstreet Fairness Bill was highly contested by companies within the state and would have become law had Quinn not done anything anyway.

In response, Amazon said it will terminate its Illinois affiliates and will drop 10,000 California based associates if similar legislation pending in California becomes law.

The ramifications are already being seen as other stores such as Wal-Mart, Sears, Best By, Barns & Noble publicly invited the downtrodden Amazon affiliates to team up with their affiliate programs. In addition, Scott Kluth the founder and CEO of Chicago-based CouponCabin.com said that Quinn’s approval of the bill would bring him to actively explore moving his business to Indiana instead.

Hacker Group Anonymous Cyberwar Threat On US »

Get your firewalls and anti-virus protection up and running as the computer hacking organization “Anonymous” is threatening new attacks on major US corporations and government official as an addition to their cyberwar against official American persons and institutions.

The group’s Barrett Brown has reportedly said, “It’s a guerrilla cyberwar, that’ what I call it.” He added, “It’s sort of an unconventional, asymmetrical act of warfare that we’ve involved in and we didn’t necessarily start it. I mean, this fire has been burning.”

Brown is obviously confident, perhaps overconfident in his abilities and those of his partners as their attacks have caused much damage to persons in and around government.
