Skype And Logitech Join Forces For High Quality Video

Logitech and Skype announced today they have entered a partnership that has created High Quality Video that will be released in November.
The collaboration provides webcams that will deliver new standard of video calls over the Internet: High Quality Video. With High Quality Video on Skype™,worldwide Windows users can enjoy free video calls that are sharper and smoother than ever before.

High Quality Video on Skype brings the resolution of video calling on Skype up to 640 x 480 pixels (from 320 x 240) and up to 30 frames per second (from a max of 15) when you meet the necessary hardware and software requirements.
Logitech released three webcams that are certified for High Quality Video, including the QuickCam Pro 9000, QuickCam Pro for Notebooks and the QuickCam Orbit AF.
The trio of webcams pack in a Carl Zeiss lens and “premium” autofocus capabilities,that provides smoother and crisper videos.
Skype and Logitech explained that this quality of video wasn’t available to consumers before and could only be seen in the board rooms of big businesses, but Logitech will be offering the QuickCam Pro 9000 and the QuickCam Pro for Notebooks for a relatively reasonable C-note. The QuickCam Orbit AF will costs $130.
