T-MOBILE AND MICROSOFT/DANGER STATUS UPDATE ON SIDEKICK DATA DISRUPTION
Dear valued T-Mobile Sidekick customers:
T-Mobile and the Sidekick data services provider, Danger, a subsidiary of Microsoft, are reaching out to express our apologies regarding the recent Sidekick data service disruption. We appreciate your patience as Microsoft/Danger continues to work on maintaining platform stability, and restoring all services for our Sidekick customers.Regrettably, based on Microsoft/Danger’s latest recovery assessment of their systems, we must now inform you that personal information stored on your device – such as contacts, calendar entries, to-do lists or photos – that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly has been lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger. That said, our teams continue to work around-the-clock in hopes of discovering some way to recover this information. However, the likelihood of a successful outcome is extremely low. As such, we wanted to share this news with you and offer some tips and suggestions to help you rebuild your personal content. You can find these tips at the T-Mobile Sidekick Forums (http://www.t-mobile.com/sidekick ). We encourage you to visit the Forums on a regular basis to access the latest updates as well as FAQs regarding this service disruption.
In addition, we plan to communicate with you on Monday (Oct. 12) the status of the remaining issues caused by the service disruption, including the data recovery efforts and the Download Catalog restoration which we are continuing to resolve. We also will communicate any additional tips or suggestions that may help in restoring your content.
We recognize the magnitude of this inconvenience. Our primary efforts have been focused on restoring our customers’ personal content. We also are considering additional measures for those of you who have lost your content to help reinforce how valuable you are as a T-Mobile customer.
We continue to advise customers to NOT reset their device by removing the battery or letting their battery drain completely, as any personal content that currently resides on your device will be lost.
Once again, T-Mobile and Microsoft/Danger regret any and all inconvenience this matter has caused.
How can a big company like Danger failed to make a backup before a Storage Area Network upgrade?
That’s all we have for now on T-Mobile/Sidekick:Www.t mobile.com/sidekick.

This is a major nail in the coffin of T-Mobile as far as my family is concerned. we have been customers of T-Mobile and predecessor companies for 14 years. But this is just the last of a string of service failures. We will wait to hear what compensation is planned which cannot restore the lost data or photos but should at least cover the replacement of the defective phone with one that is reliable and not made by microsoft.

This is an outrage!T-Mobile has some serious explaining to do.I’m a sidekick user and everything I had on my phone is gone and I want some kind of compensation!T-Mobile should really consider crediting it’s customers accounts cause their the one’s to blame not us.

This is really sad!! The only thing Tmobile is offering as of now is 1 month off of the data services for this outage. I really don’t think that this covers lost contacts as well as other personal information that all sidekick customers lost..this is a complete outrage and this is going to take more than a $25.00 credit from t-mobile for the customers that actually used their phones for business as well as pleasure. Furthermore I know that they will continue to lose a lot of business behind this but will all of the subscribers to Tmobile period and not just sidekick this will have a minimal effect on the company as a whole, but will also leave a bad taste in customers mouth’s for a long time to come…I personally have lost very very important contacts with people I do business with around the world and am greatlt disappointed in the measures that these companies have tried to take to handle this situation and compensate their customers.

There is no way poosible to retrieve our info?? There has to be something…I’m devastated…I have so much info lost,I am not going to settle for that’s it. I have business contacts, and there is no way for me to get this info back, plus what about all the numbers I had from people that I can’t even remeber. U better think of something and think fast,I’m talking legal action. Yeah well if somebody can sue McDonalds for a splilled hot cup of coffee, then I can certainly try for Microsoft failing to have a back up. Come on sidekick users, join me in this, this will teach these morons to have a back. What, they just don’t give a damn that a lot of us use our phones for business, not just to take a few pics. My whole email info?? How can u get these back…unless u remember every business contact u ever had, this is worse than ur house burning….at least u know when ur house burns, that’s it. But here, they should’ve had our info more secure.so r u with me?? Sidekick users everywhere, microsoft has to pay for all the business I’m going to lose….so my email is there,if anyone wishes to jump on the wagon with me and lets figure out a way to make microsoft pay …for not caring about alllll our business contacts, pics, family photos, emails, addresses, etc. I’m sure they will think of something. They had better. If we scare the hell outa them,u can bet ur pretty penny they will keep trying, even if it means they go to the moon and back!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all I understand things happen, some good some bad. But one thing is for sure is that most of us paid alot of money to buy our phones out right, and nowhere does it say this situtation might be possible, I’m sure if you had that written somewhere we would have not purchased these phones, especially the ones like me who bought it when they first came out and not at the discount price they are running now. I was sent a pass code to login to my phone and still it wont accept sign in. As other people pointed out we trusted that the information we placed in our phones will be there unless we lost our phones and even that our information could have be transfered, but this is just unacceptable on any level. Maybe I should have listened to people who have use T-Moblie in the past and were unhappy with their service and since switched, I should have done the same 2 weeks ago when it could have been possible without me loosing money and all and I mean all my information, some of it can not be reproduced and that is the real sad thing about the whole thing. I love my SideKick LX that’s why I didnt want to give it up, but right now if my information or even my calls or text dont get back in service, I think we should all have the option of your company buying our phones back at full price and our contracts be refunded also cancelled, or at least leave that option open for the customers to decide on what we want to do and not what the company wants to offer. If we didnt pay our bill either on time or at all, there is an outcome that can damage our credit rating and or outrages fees getting tacked on to our bills, thats our punshiment, what about you when your company doesnt give us what we pay for, where is your punishment, I dont think a 20 something credit to your customers is enough not even close. GIVE US THE RIGHT CODES TO SIGN IN, AND ANSWER YOUR PHONES WHEN WE CALL YOU FOR HELP, WE DON’T WANT TO LISTEN TO A RECORDING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, NOR DO WE WANT TEXT MESSAGES SAYING YOUR STILL WORKING ON THE PROBLEM IN WHICH IS THE ONLY TEXT I CAN RECIEVE. My job requires for me to be on the road at all hours of the day and night and I need my phone to at least work on a basic level and not have dropped calls nor text. GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF NOW, MAKE US A BETTER OFFER.

Ok, why is everyone who uses this phone like me, so angry about losing contacts if you’re in business? Do you place all your money under your mattress? Or do you place it in a network of banks to be processed and secured? You should always, always back up all your Emails, contacts, calender arrangements and everything else whenever you can and not just on the ’secure’ server, I got all my contacts back I replaced them from my desktop. Then the new ones were replaced after the server came back on, with all my notes, and everything. So I’m happy with my credit just the whole month down sucked balls but its over with and I’ll still enjoy my sidekick when properly backed up on more than one device and things to more than one Email or data server. So don’t blame tmobile for your down falls to, we were all in it together and now through it, so just do what you got to do, from switching providers or switching phones, but I’m keeping my sidekick lx 09 because I’m still happy with it.
